Lilian Rowles is the lady who is responsible for my beautiful avatar. I fell in love with her drawings nearly 30 years ago when I started my family and still keep on the lookout for more of her work. In the past couple of weeks I have acquired a charming postcard with a postmark for 11 September 1932
and today this book came

I'd never heard of her, but I love the colours of the artwork in the book, and the drawings too.
ReplyDeleteJulie it is wonderful that you can relate to the names in the book and bring them alive for us .... I was looking for Dorothy but she wasn't there x
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are gorgeous, I love vintage children's books and these illustrations are just beautiful.

I have two original illustrations by Lillian Rowles acquired by my grandmother in Liverpool around 1914-1918 They are both of babies in cots, one is blue and awake and is saying "good morning everybody" and the other is dressed in pink, is asleep and is saying "good night everybody" - I haven't seen them catalogued and wondered if anybody knew anything about them?
